Aalto Design Factory uses the principles of Design-based learning to provide a physical platform for passion-based learning, or problem-based learning (PBL).

Passion-based learning is a student-centered approach. It is driven by the students’ motivation of wanting to learn about, create, or perform something together, with sustained student engagement throughout the student centeredlearning process. This then shifts the objective from possession of knowledge about a subject to a change process in which one becomes a professional in a field. There are several factors that affect the motivation and engagement needed to learn using the PBL method:

  • The role of the teacher
