KONE’s commitment to sustainable urban living is exemplified by the launch of KONE SiteFlow, a Smart Construction Technology co-innovated with customers. This solution enhances construction site efficiency, safety, and user experience, earning recognition from the Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) in October 2024 in London.

All projects within the Veturi innovation program were based on KONE Innovation’s eight (8) principles.

  1. Customer-Centric Design: Projects begin with a deep understanding of customer needs, ensuring solutions address real problems with measurable value.
  2. Innovation and Foresight: A foresight team identifies critical trends, such as generational tech divides and environmental concerns. This information guides KONE’s partnerships in creating sustainable, inclusive solutions.
  3. Scenario-Based Planning: Anticipating various futures to develop resilient, adaptable solutions that evolve with urban and technological trends.
  4. Rapid Validation and Growth Hacking: The innovation process involves a hands-on, practical approach where we quickly put ideas into action to see if they work. This fast-paced testing helps speed up the creation of new, effective innovations that really hit the mark with what customers want and need. It’s about making smart moves quickly to stay ahead in the game.
  5. Portfolio Management: Innovation portfolio management involves making smart decisions to ensure a balance between the chance of success and the risk of failure. This balancing act allows the company to adapt quickly to what the market needs, much like a juggler who expertly keeps multiple balls in motion.
  6. Diverse and Inclusive Power Teams: specialized teams leverage diverse perspectives and expertise, fostering creativity and adaptability in tackling urban challenges.
  7. Collaborative Model: The Collaborative approach is about sharing ideas freely and engaging a multidisciplinary team across academia, industry, and public sectors. It is about keeping things simple, being open to learning, and having fewer legal hurdles to make collaboration smoother and easier for everyone.
  8. The Iterative Approach: Is about developing solutions that meet the actual needs of city living. It involves a thorough exploration and confirmation of these needs, creating new solutions, quickly testing how attractive and practical these ideas are, and then carefully adjusting the solutions to deal with the daily challenges of city life.

These foundations enable KONE to drive impactful, sustainable solutions that elevate urban living and meet the challenges of modern city life through focusing on customer needs, and strategically managing risks that will result in innovative, sustainable urban solutions.
