Design Factory Global Network and this year’s International Design Factory Week

Design Factory Global Network (DFGN) is a collaboration of people from different backrounds and cultures. It provides platforms to develope innovations with similar-minded people – people who want to make their ideas into reality. DFGN regularly shares experiences and ideas with participating stakeholders. It works in all continents and is still spreading to new cities. The DFGN family will grow with four platforms during the year 2015. The next launch is already next week when Frisian Design Factory in Netherlands opens!

DFGN is a network of Design Factories from all around the world with the same goals – to support innovation. DFGN enables research, education and business practitioners to work efficiently together in all network locations as we all share the same enthusiasm towards innovations and experimental work as well as the unique athmosphere.

All of the members of DFGN gather around atleast once a year for International Design Factory Week (IDFW). The organizing of the event is rotating and this year’s IDFW was held in Chile. The purpose of IDFW is to meet new people and to create something new. This year we had 25 participants from almost every Design Factory.

In this year’s IDFW we got to know the Chilean Design Factory and their internal activities. There were morning mixers with potential sponsors, networking around innovation, collaboration and education and getting to know the students of the Design Factory. There were seminars about sharing expertise and interacting with the local universities. In IDFW we also discussed what are the different projects we want to do in the future and how to enhance the collaboration between different Design Factories with joint projects and better mobility.

Next International Design Factory Week is going to be held in Cern and it is hosted by IdeaSquare on 12.-18.12.2016. We are really looking forward to that!
